Walks

Our walks are Wednesday Ambles and Saturday Rambles.

Ambles are gentler walks, usually visiting a pub for lunch.

Rambles are longer walks, usually about 7 miles, and we

take along a packed lunch.

 starting at 10.30 am.

Walks are usually between 4 and 5 miles long, and we normally start at                                 and return to a pub for lunch.

Next Amble: Wednesday 10 December, 10.30am

Wednesday 10th December 2025. Meet at The Boathouse pub, Park Road, Rushall, between Aldridge and Walsall, WS4 1LG. Map: OS Landranger series 139, Grid Ref. SK 032 005).

DIRECTIONS

From Sutton Coldfield take the A5127 Lichfield Road as far as Four Oaks island (opposite the railway station), and bear left onto the A454 Walsall Road. The A454 will lead you past Little Aston Hospital, across the two mini-roundabouts on the A452 Chester Road by the Irish Harp pub, continuing on the A454 through Aldridge and towards Walsall. About 1¼ miles after leaving Aldridge, you will reach some traffic lights (the White House pub is on the left), where you take a right turn into Bosty Lane.
Continue along Bosty Lane for approx. 1 mile, and then over a canal bridge and turn immediately left into Park Road, and again immediately left into the Boathouse pub.

Alternatively, take the A454 Walsall Road from Four Oaks island, and turn left at the traffic lights, into Streetly Lane. At the island in Streetly, go straight across into Hard- wick Road, over the A452 Chester Road, then past Streetly Crematorium to an island where you take the second exit into Barr Common Road. After approx 1¼ miles this runs into Bosty Lane at the crossroads with the A454, where the White House pub is lo- cated. Continue along Bosty Lane for approx. 1 mile, and then over a canal bridge and turn immediately left into Park Road, and again immediately left into the Boathouse pub.
The walk is approximately 5 miles in length, and passes through woodland, a nature re- serve, housing estates, parkland and alongside the Rushall canal.

There are no stiles. It’s bound to be muddy in parts, so please wear appropriate footwear.

Rambles are usually 6-8 miles long and are mainly on footpaths and can include stiles and gradients.

We take our own packed lunches and normally return to the start by 3-4pm. Details will be posted here of any planned rambles.
